25 Ways to Style a little Black Dress

You already know a lot about the LBD. Still let’s repeat this for you! A.little.black.dress. is a wardrobe staple that every girl or woman must possess. It’s versatile and you can practically wear it to any event whatsoever. Having said that, here’s how you can style your little black dress in plenty of ways and look like a diva. Did you know that Coco Chanel introduced this stylish dress in the 1920s and Audrey Hepburn popularised it in ‘Breakfast at Tiffany’s’? Let’s explore the possibilities.

1.

A coloured blazer ups the oomph factor instantly. A red, pink or any bright coloured blazer will look great.

2.

top-25-ways-to-wear-a-little-black-dress

You can wear a military jacket over your dress. Choosing the right colour combination of the jacket is the key here. This can be a good combination for a day-time look.

3.

top-25-ways-to-wear-a-little-black-dress

Nothing looks classier than a well fitted leather jacket. Try it and feel the difference.

4.

Denim is never ever out of fashion. You can easily pair it with your dress and look chic.

5.

Pair a different coloured cardigan such as white, light grey, or light brown cardigan along with the little black dress.

6.

top-25-ways-to-wear-a-little-black-dress

If you are least concerned about trends, try a fur coat.

7.

top-25-ways-to-wear-a-little-black-dress

Daring fashionistas can also go for animal print coats.

8.

top-25-ways-to-wear-a-little-black-dress

Red belts are a nice way to add colours to your dress too.

9.

top-25-ways-to-wear-a-little-black-dress

Instead of a red coloured belt, opt for a leather one.

10.

top-25-ways-to-wear-a-little-black-dress

Choose an even bold combination, by wearing a gold belt along with your black dress.

11.

top-25-ways-to-wear-a-little-black-dress

Like the legendary Audrey Hepburn, you could wear a pair of black gloves to look ultra-glamorous.

12.

top-25-ways-to-wear-a-little-black-dress

You can turn an LBD into a formal dress by layering it over a printed blouse.

13.

top-25-ways-to-wear-a-little-black-dress

The contrast of black and white leaves a lasting impression, when you pair an LBD with a white vest.

14.

top-25-ways-to-wear-a-little-black-dress

The beauty of an LBD is its versatility. Add a pop of colour with the help of pink sandals or pumps. Stylish red sandals look amazing as well.

15.

During summers, you can choose to wear comfortable flat sandals.

16.

Black pumps will never fail you, when wearing the black dress.

17.

top-25-ways-to-wear-a-little-black-dress

High boots are an all-time favourite and are apt for winter season. Choose either leather or suede boots.

20.

top-25-ways-to-wear-a-little-black-dress

Gladiators make you look like a dream as they provide a nice contrast to your LBD.

21.

top-25-ways-to-wear-a-little-black-dress

Coloured clutches or bags also help you to add a pop of colour.

22.

top-25-ways-to-wear-a-little-black-dress

There’s absolutely no need to shun your LBD in the winters. Leggings and stockings can be worn with LBD to look fabulous during this dull season.

23.

top-25-ways-to-wear-a-little-black-dress

For jewellery-loving ladies, this is anunderstated way to jazz up the LBD. Choose one that suits the neckline of your LBD andensure a balance in the look.

24.

top-25-ways-to-wear-a-little-black-dress

Colourful scarfs look stunning when paired with an LBD.

25.

top-25-ways-to-wear-a-little-black-dress

Subtle bling can be added to the overall look to increase the style quotient. For example, a blingy clutch, thin golden bangles or matching golden earrings and neckpiece can be used to jazz up the look.

Lastly, decide the make up as well. If you want your lips to be bold, go for a lighter eye make-up. If you love heavy eye-make up, then keeping the lips light will be the best idea. So ladies, armed with all these styling tips, here’s hoping that you all will look completely stunning and divalicious.

The weather in Delhi has got warmer over the last week. And I am actually quite bummed about it. I hate layering up. Yet I love winter. Its like I can’t survive with it but can’t live without it either. That’s how most things in my life work. I love them and I love to hate them. The winters are still chilly but the sun is coming out almost everyday now so I have put my scarfs and shawls away. I turned 24 last week and spent the day in doing absolutely nothing. Researching new eat outs on Zomato doesn’t count, right? I took a trip down south too, but that deserves a whole new post. So if you thought I was royally ignoring the blog then you aren’t entirely right. I’ve been busy doing….things. When I started Petite Peeve, I promised myself I would never stress myself over it like I do over VNA. Its more of a creative outlet for me and intend to keep it that way.

February is here, with all the cutesy things. Its makes me feel like a school girl all over again. Roses, chocolates, candles, cards..I am lucky that my bag is always buzzing with surprises. I am not big on Valentine’s day but who doesn’t like a little reason to celebrate. BUT when your birthday and valentine’s fall so close to each other, the gifting timeline gets blurred! Although I don’t like to soak myself up in red to go with the theme, but I do like a little colour on my lips. And I’ve been wearing the L’Oreal Paris Color Riche Pure Reds lipsticks non stop ever since I got them. Love the pigmentation and staying power. You know I hate to touch up, so these matte lippers are a staple for me. In this look, I’m wearing Pure Scarleto which is a warm red by Blake Lively.

Chilling at Big Chill Cafe, Saket

I am so infamous for taking pictures of my food whenever I dine out. Although honestly only half of them see the light of Instagram but food to me is porn! I HAVE to click from atleast a dozen angles (okay may be 4) that I make others wait until I finish. And not just what I order but everything on the table. Pity those who eat out with me. On the plate today is Big Chill Cafe. *deep breath* Big Chill. I go into a food coma everytime I read reviews of it online or even while just staring at my own pictures. I don’t know what I was eating all these years! I recently joined the Big Chill bandwagon and have been there quite a few times now. Whenever somebody decides to treat me, I take them to the Saket outlet in DLF Place Mall (because malling..duh) But the Khan Market cafe is the place to go if you want to actually get a feel of the ambience. They have opened up at quite a few places now like Noida, Gurgaon, Kailash Colony, Vasant Kunj, etc but I have not been to those franchises.

Enough with the introduction let’s come straight to the ambience which was the first thing that drove me here. It has this retro Hollywood feel to it with the old movie posters and picture frames. Everything looks very vintage and classic and you feel like you are sitting in a restaurant from an old Hollywood film from the 80s.

I absolutely hate the menu! Its so gigantic and you practically would have to spend atleast half an hour if you were to go through each and every item. And sssh I think they don’t even have all those dishes at hand in the first place. They have atleast 30 varieties of innocent pasta. Its so freaking confusing! I like vegetarian food better so I have only tried their veg items and honestly they don’t have a lot of options for veggies. Their non veg menu is extremely extensive. But still here you go with the best vegetarian dishes.

The best dishes at Big Chill Cafe, DLF Mall Saket:

1. Minestrone Soup
2. Caesar Salad
3. Garlic bread with Cheese
4. Baked Potato with Cheddar
5. Fusilli with Mushroom in White Sauce
6. Baked Penne with Mozzarella and Broccoli
7. Fettucini Penne Primavera
8. Penne With Vodka
9. Four Seasons Pizza

As you can see, I’m quite big on pastas! Love Italian cuisine. Their servings don’t look that big in quantity but they are all very filling so don’t judge by the size!

Best Desserts and Icecreams at Big Chill Cafe:

1. Blueberry Cheesecake (LOVE. Did I say love enough?)
2. Mississippi Mud Pie
3. Banofee Pie
4. Apple Crumble
5. Chocolate Super fudge Brownies
6. Squidgy Chocolate Mousse cake
7. Chocolate Mousse
8. Waffles
9. Chocolate Superfudge Icecream
10. Chocolate Tiramisu Cake
11. Duble Chocolate Decadence
12. Red Velvet Cheesecake
13. Oreo Cheesecake
14. New York Cheesecake
15. Coffee Ice Cream
16. Irish Cheesecake

I can’t even look at this list. Somebody make me stop. I sometimes fill myself with just desserts. THAT is the level of my sweet cravings. As you can notice, I’ve already broken a lot of my new year resolutions.

Best Drinks and Shakes at Big Chill Cafe:

1. Banana Smoothie (LOVE!)
2. Belgian Chocolate Shake
3. Brownie Shake
4. Chocolate banana Oreo shake
5. Hot Chocolate

The shakes and smoothies are very filling so go light on the food if you order these.

In terms of pricing, its not very expensive considering a sudden wave of new expensive lounges and restaurants in Delhi with half the decent food.

And now I guess I need to go there again. Did I tell you Sailor is coming in a week? I can’t keep calm!

Couples Spa at Sawadhee Traditional Thai Spa, Vasant Kunj

What a day! I still feel the warmth of the otherwise cold January morning when I look back at the spa day I spent at Sawadhee Spa. You know how I was a bundles of nerves during my first spa experience (I wish they had secret cameras there so I could show you my face) but this time I was a lot relaxed and chilled out..after all I wasn’t a spargin anymore! So off I went with my favourite girl to spend a day of relaxing and pampering to this property in Vasant Kunj. Its the Sawadhee Traditional Thai Spa. The property is located in a calm and serene place as you would expect from a luxury spa. Since its not located inside any hotel so you can use the outdoor space to take photos and selfies to instagram (alright yes I did! We shot an outfit near the stairs)

By the time we finally entered through the doors, the receptionist and other girls must have made an opinion on us..we did give them plenty of time (and poses) to judge us! Although I hope wish they didn’t. Before deciding our services we were given a tour of the spa and went through each of their oils and scrubs (which they make themselves..some secret recipe) to pick our favourites to be used during the spa therapy. I picked the lavender oil and chocolate scrub (or was it coffee?) Oh yes we opted for a couples room with private steam sauna bath and jacuzzi. Loved the concept of private bath which my last spa at Mariott didn’t provide (and made me a wee bit uncomfortable) So yep if you are going with your partner or just your girls then opt for couple rooms..they are amazing.

I opted for the aromatherapy oil massage followed by a full body chocolate scrub. In summers they give a thai wrap as well which I would love to try. The 90min oil massage session was a bliss. At first I was mentally checking my things to do for the upcoming holiday but I don’t remember when I dozed off. After the scrub we took the sauna steam bath and then proceeded to our Jacuzzi for the day. Well oh well that lasted for around 2hours..I don’t know how our discussion about our graduation subjects ended up on life mysteries. Yepp no freaking clue. I guess it was the coffee with bourbon.

If you want a nice couple time with your boy complete with rose petals and candles then Sawadhee Thai Spa is your guy. Highly recommend the ayurvedic oil massage and oil-less thai massage (which my friend loved).

The salon was getting ready when we visited so I guess now they are providing facials, etc too.

Price: I recommend you opt for packages instead of single services. Check the website for the exact list of services available along with the price list.

Tip: Make a reservation before you go. And take along some dark chocolates and wine to fuel the jacuzzi party since they don’t serve food and you might get hungry after a while.

Hair Wizardry at TIGI Bedhead Lounge

A lot of you asked me about my new hairstyle. I recently got my hair cut and this time it was from a celeb hairstylist! I know! The guys over at TIGI Bedhead invited me over at their lounge in Gurgaon and I readily agreed. Who wouldn’t? The ocassion was that Ralf Boss, Creative director of TIGI Taiwan & Asia South Pacific was coming to Delhi and he wanted to meet me in person and talk about all things hair. He is such a fun guy! And one of the ONLY hair stylists who understand that an inch is just an inch. I told him to to not go short with my hair and he didn’t. I half expected to walk out of the door with a bob but I’m pleased he listened to my concerns. We decided on a lot of waves and mind you..messy waves. I didn’t want anything clean and organized and so did he. So we decided on bedhead waves!

Ralf ran his own TIGI salon in Germany for over 15 years and knew he wanted to become a famous hairdresser at the age of 13! Currently with TIGI for over 21 years, he started as an Ambassador for TIGI initially and then graduated to TIGI Art Director for Germany.

In 2007, Ralf moved to China and worked there for five years running shows and seminars, before moving to Taipei for leading TIGI’s first International Academy in Asia. He currently leads the TIGI Asia Educator Team as Creative Director Taiwan & Asia South Pacific.

My makeover started with Urban Antidotes Level 3 shampoo and conditioner. Then he used Superstar Queen of the Day to add some volume. He then added TIGI Manipulator to style the hair and add some waves. Sugar Dust was added on my roots to give them a lift. And to finish off the look he sprayed my hair with Hard Head to seal the look.

I love love my new hair cut and the way it shapes my hair. Add to it the electric personality of Ralf Boss who is super fun to hang out with. Apart from my hair we also chit chatted about his experiences with people in Mumbai and other parts of the world he has been to. He talked of how girls in each part of the world are different when it comes to hair preferences. When I asked him about Delhi girls he observed that they play a lot safer compared to other cities. To which he was pleasently surprised when he saw my ombre hair which also had hints of pink from my recent hair chalking job. I hope I set the standards of Delhi girls right! Can’t wait to see this talented guy again.

Nioxin Derma Renew Therapy

By now you must have guessed I spend twice my time and money on my hair than I do on my face! Ofcourse I spend on makeup but as far as skin care goes, its always less than my hair care! Nioxin products are known worldwide for combating hair thinning. In India P&G has acquired Nioxin and has brought their products to salons and online stores. Recently I gave the Nioxin Derma Renew therapy a try which claims to remove dead skin cells and excess sebum from your scalp, and act like a facial for the scalp. Yep hair facial. Thats what got me interested. Lets see what all it does and if Nioxin really works.

Nioxin- #1 selling salon brand for thicker fuller looking hair now in India Thinning hair is a highly common occurrence with more than one in two people across the globe experiencing some level of thinning. However, for something that affects so many people, there is a shocking lack of helpful, clear and consistent information and inspiration available surrounding what thinning hair is and why it occurs.

NIOXIN has developed the following new definition of hair thinning based on scientific, stylist and consumer insights. Thinning Hair = A Poor Scalp Environment + Fewer Hair Strands + Finer Hair Strands

THE POWER OF 3: INSPIRED SCIENCE INNOVATION

A close look at hair biology reveals three areas that can impact hair appearance and condition:

  • Scalp and hair environment- Derma
  • Hair growth cycles – Density
  • The change of hair structure over time- Diameter

NIOXIN then approached the formulation of its products by linking the three components of thinning hair to these factors, and then formulating real science-based solutions with its 3 Therapies

  • Derma renew service (Facial for scalp): cleansing hair and scalp to remove sebum and residues,
  • Density protect: conditioning and protecting hair to help reduce hair loss due to breakage,
  • Density repair: by thickening each hair strand.

The Nioxin products come in 6 systems according to hair type. My scalp condition was matched to System 5.

System 1: for fine, natural (no chemical treatments like color, highlights, perms, or relaxers), normal to thin-looking hair.
System 2: for fine, natural, noticeably thinning hair.
System 3: for fine, chemically enhanced (color, highlights, lowlights, perms, or relaxers), normal to thin-looking hair.
System 4: for fine, chemically enhanced, noticeably thinning hair.
System 5: for medium/course, natural, normal to thin-looking hair.
System 6: for medium/course, natural, noticeably thinning hair.

I fixed an appointment with the Affinity Salon, GK 1, Delhi. I have been there once so I knew the staff there. First the Scalp Renew serum (the nozzle thingy) was applied to my scalp and left for around 10-15mins. Its supposed to exfoliate your scalp to take in the further products more effectively. After that my hair was washed thoroughly with the Nioxin System 5 Clarifying Shampoo and the conditioner applied was Nioxin System 5 Scalp Revitaliser Conditioner. After that Nioxin System 5 leave-in Scalp Treatment was applied on damp scalp to work its magic. After that the regular blow dry followed although I instructed them to blow dry at the min setting since I try to avoid hot blow drys as much as possible.

My hair felt thoroughly clean. I kept track of my hair fall that week and it was comparatively less than what I experience normally. This is a long term procedure and needs to be applied every month. So I cannot comment on the long term effects right now. But they have this at-home kit which you can use at home if visiting a salon every month is a task. With regular use I am hoping hair thinning can be controlled to a great extent. The kit includes Nioxin Cleanser, Scalp Revitaliser and a Scalp Treatment and is priced at Rs. 2390Nioxin Derma Renew Therapy, available at salons is priced at Rs. 3000.

Zingo Star, GK 2

It was labour day a few days back and I took this opportunity to take out my team to lunch. We are a small close knit team and thus I like to keep their job interesting! Since we had the entire day to us, we went to Greater Kailash for some street shopping. Girls will be girls! I know a swear by Sarojini Nagar for budget street style but GK M-block market comes next. A bit pricier than Sarojini but still affordable. While we were in GK we decided to check out this new casual restaurant on the block called Zingo Star. Its in GK 2, M Block and as the name suggests, very casual and laid back.

First we ordered some mocktails. Love the mason jar touch. If I remember correctly, we had Zingo Virgin Sangria, Guava Cran Cooler, Dirty Shirley and Chocolate Addict Milk Shake. Don’t miss the injection thingy in Dirty Shirley! We later moved to starters and ordered both the super snacker veg and non-veg samplers. There were Fried Shrooms, Mighty Mozarella Sticks, Buffalo Shrimp and Chicken Popcorn.

After that we moved to their specialty i.e the chicken wings. They come with a lot of sauces. We tried them with Chipotle Barbeque Sauce, Spicy Garlic Sauce and Ass Blaster. Ass Blaster was the spiciest of them all and we had a fun time daring each other to eat those! I recommend you to try the Hot Hot Hot options. After that we moved to burgers and because we couldn’t makeup our mind, we again decided to go with The Super Cool Slider Sampler which includes 6 mini burgers from both veg and non-veg options. Perfect for times when you want to eat everything! The buns were freshly made in-house and were quite soft to eat. Infact they were more live pavs than typical burger buns.

Italian cuisine is my favourite and most of times my dining choice depends on who serves the best pasta in town! So we ordered Arabiata creamy sauce pasta and it was a delight. I wish I could say the same for the garlic bread that came with it. We were almost full but the chef suggested us to try their pizza so we ordered one Veg pizza. We all shared one slice each. I guess I ate too much! The pizza was well prepared, very rich and soft.

To finish off, we quickly ordered 2 desserts: Zingo Star Hot Chocolate Fudge and Hot Chocolate Brownie. All the chocolate lovers will love their desserts menu. I do hope they add some cheesecakes soon.

The head chef Sushant is quite friendly and makes note of your special requests. Its a great place to hang out with friends since the pricing is very budget friendly. The whole ambiance with mason jars, wooden decor, clip board menus and cheeky sofas has this throw back touch which I dig. Highly recommend the mocktails, hot wings, veg pizza and creamy cheese pasta.

Too Vogue For You

I’m back! I know I know a lot of apologies are needed here. And a lot of you left some curious mails and messages. So the thing is I recently moved to a new place (for the first time!) so it was a little difficult to handle both VNA and Petite Peeve with the crazy and hectic move. For almost 2-3 weeks I had NO internet connectivity. I don’t know how I lived! Going to starbucks for free wifi and hacking my neighbour’s wifi were just some of the things I was considering when I finally got the guys to set it up at my place. Not kidding! Finally I am settled here and back in action. Ofcourse the first post had to be huge..and what better than a haul. I have shopped and been gifted so many things in the past few weeks that I was itching to show them off. There is so much stuff to show you guys, so many new launches, so many summer essentials, so many favourites that I better shut up right here.

With a big move, the first thing that moves up your priority list is home decor. This time I’m considering a turquoise and white theme for my bedroom. But the other rooms have an earthy orange and green theme. And this cute mason jar fits perfectly. This is the Tun Tun Jar from the brand I am Broke. The concept is very interesting. Its a jar filled with colourful sticks and a marker pen. When your friends and family visit, you ask them to write thoughtful and funny messages for you. You can even write feel good quotes on it yourself. So when you feel a little low, you just open the jar and enjoy the messages. I’ve just hung it in the living room and as soon as I am done with the decor, I would be asking the guests to write us notes. This  and comes in others colours like blue and orange too. I’ve 2 wallets from them which I quite like. I might use them in some of my outfit posts. This is the cutest mason jar I have. Once we are done with the sticks, I would be buying a refill from the website. I love such thoughtful decor items which make the space more personal and lively.

Coming to the new collections. Enamor has launched 2 new SS’15 collectionsParisian Confetti and The Tahiti. I got one brassiere from each of them. I’m into simpler prints with bright colours. This is the first time I’m trying out printed ones..and that too with bows! I get this funny feeling in my stomach whenever I look at them. They are so girly and cute!

Another news. Swedish lifestyle brand Sudio has now come in India. They make elegant earphones and offer studio quality sound for a third of what they would cost in retail. The earphones don’t look like an electronic product, but a stylish and preppy accessory. I got the Sudio Klang in white to test and the look how elegant the look. The branding and design is very minimalist. The sound quality is ofcourse and great and they accompany me in my late night YouTube hours. If you want to buy then flipkart, amazon, ebay and headphonezone in India carry them.

No haul post is complete without some summer fashion essentials. I will be wearing these products in my fashion posts anyway so I’m not going into detail. But I gotta share the sunglasses story. I don’t come across shades that speak to me often. Till now I’ve only had 2-3 pairs. Imagine! We were shopping for Sailor at Zara Men and came across the nem’s accessory section. It was love at first sight the moment I tried them on. Yep..men! Who would have thought! But they didn’t have any new pair in stock. So I decided to check every Zara store in Delhi and yep..as you can predict they were sold out. Ofcourse. Then we were browsing the Zara in Bangalore one day and I came across these once again. Sounds like a film story, no? That’s how much I love them.

The heat wave in Delhi! It has made me so lazy. All I want to do all day is chill out with a cooler and a good book in my bed with a/c on. Going out in this heat is like going out on a suicide mission! Add to it the early monsoons and the humidity and everything goes down hill. I had been keeping my hair up in a bun that I had forgotten how it feels to have your waves fall over your shoulders. As soon as I got a break from house shifting, I ran to a salon near my area and went straight for a hair spa. What I love about hair spas is that apart from leaving the salon with movie star hair, you also get some decent head and shoulder massage which nobody can say no to. Since I moved to this area of Delhi recently and had no idea about good hair salons, so I picked this salon called Krushhh by Konica near Vikas Surya Mall in Rohini.

For those who are wondering, I will quickly tell you the Wella hair products used on me. I have got ombre hair so they used colour protectants on my hair. The spa guy started with Wella Professionals Brilliance Color protection Shampoo and Conditioner. Later Wella Professionals Brilliance Treatment mask for colored hair was used along with Wella SP Luxe Oil. The process was the usual as any hair spa but this time the guy offered me a foot massaging machine..I couldn’t refuse! The head and shoulder massage was relaxing too. See thats what I love about spa..you can just sleep there. Ofcourse I managed to stay awake for the sake of selfies. My hair was visibly softer and smoother. I was considering a hair trim but after looking at the pictures Salor asked me not to. So I obliged and now I gotta deal with Rapunzel hair this summer. How are you dealing with the sun? I am wearing minimal makeup and wearing just shift dresses or shorts and Tshirts.

Mother of Dragons

My favourite character in Game of Thrones? Daenerys Stormborn of the House Targaryen, the First of Her Name, the Unburnt, Queen of Meereen, Queen of the Andals and the Rhoynar and the First Men, Khaleesi of the Great Grass Sea, Breaker of Chains, and Mother of Dragons.

Raise your hand if you Monday mornings have turned blue again ever since the season 5 of Game of Thrones got finished. I know! And why hasn’t George RR Martin released Winds of Winter already? Why does he HAVE to take a million years with each book. If I were on Iron Throne, I would have sent him to the Wall already. Wait, that’s what Joffrey Baratheon would have done. If first impressions were last impressions, I wouldn’t have done this post. At first glance I dismissed the whole GoT series as porn. Later after a few friends insisted and I finally gave the dragon magic another try. I am one of those strange people who love spoilers. Suspense bothers me. So much that I can’t sleep until I know what’s gonna happen next..whether its a sit com, a book, a party or a gift. I GOTS to know! So it should not come as a surprise that I already know all Game of Thrones fan theories and predictions. So if you are a GoT enthusiast then talk to me and I will happily discuss everything.

A few weeks back I found this interesting website called Paint Collar which sells some amazing stuff based on your favourite tv shows and books. Their motto is “Connecting Art With Lifestyle”. They have developed a Product Creation Engine to facilitate artists to upload their artwork image on their templates to create the products while they handle manufacturing, delivery and everything else. Harry Potter? They have it. Breaking Bad? Yes. Avengers? Yep. Friends? Ofcourse. So basically whatever Fandom you belong to, they probably have amazing artistic shirts, posters and laptop skins on it. I recently hauled a few stuff and it includes a Khaleesi tshirt and a Tyrion Lannister laptop skin. What surprises me is that the stuff is not random photos and quotes other websites carry. Its all art based. Its a marketplace for designer merchandise created by artists from all over the world who cook up something amazing each time. So rest assured, you won’t see another girl walking down the street wearing the same Jeoy Tribbiani Tshirt.

Remember the frame Monica and Chandler had on their door? They have a poster of that..which I am going to get next. I’m gonna hang it on my door..and don’t you copy the idea!

As I said in my last post, I am only wearing Tshirts and shorts this summer. So naturally my next outfit post had to be based on the same. The plaid shirt and the blue shorts are some of the gems I found in Sarojini Nagar. Its a shopping paradise. The details of the other accessories have been listed below. Check out the outfit and let me know what you think. Also tell me what;s your take on the street style in India this summer.

Its gonna be another flip flop summer

Honestly I have always preferred winters over summers. But one can’t deny that summer style is the best! Who needs layering when you can flaunt those worked out arms and abs in the flowy summer clothing. Talking of work outs, I have recently joined a fitness class where we mix cardio with dance and yoga. After I graduate in cardio a little bit (never had proper exercise in my life!) I would be joining a gym soon for strength training. I’m also looking over my diet which really just means eating a lot of home cooked meals and skipping everything packaged and imported. Seasonal and local food is the best when you are watching your weight. If you want me to talk about my diet and fitness in detail then let me know and I will do a post on it.

I have always had inhibitions with maxi dresses. Thats why you have never seen me in one before. Short girls and maxi dresses don’t really gel together..that was what I used to think. Now I think its all about finding the right cut and shape. Maxi dresses with a lot of flare are a strict no no. Also length is important while picking a maxi. Here are some tips for you to pick the right maxi dress if you are petite:

1. Go for smaller patterns and lighter colours. Big prints overwhelm our petite frame.

2. In terms of dress length, go for maxis which fall right below your ankles. Or even longer if you are going to be wearing high heels. Anything short will cut out your height. Mine here is 2-3 inches longer than me. You can always tied up the extra length in a know while wearing flats.

3. Opt for maxi dresses which are clinched not at waist but below the bust. That would give you a longer structured frame.

4. Mine is not clinched but has a very structured fit without any flare at the bottom. Makes you look leaner and taller.

Since I wanted this look to be very relaxed and summer appropriate, I went light on accessories and threw on a fringe kimono with a light necklace and one of my favorite watches from Daniel Wellington. To complete the look I wore tan sandals from Naturalizer by Bata. Also tan/nude shoes make you look taller!

If you know me then you know spas are my jam. I HAVE to get either a hair spa or if the time allows, a full body spa every month. So this time I picked Tattva Spa in Lemon Tree Premier Hotel, Gurgaon. If you are on a budget and can’t think of spending that hard earned money on “just a spa” then Tattvs spa is your thing.

Reaching the spa was a task I tell you! I live at the opposite end of the city so I took off early. BUT! If you are planning to go there for the first time then this might help you, there are 2 Lemon Tree Premiere Hotels in Delhi NCR. One near the Delhi IGI airport and the other near Leisure Valley. Since both of them fall near/inside gurgaon so I by mistake went to the one near the airport. Eeee Big Mistake! Had to hail my cab again! Anyway here goes my experience and review of the Tattva Day Spa.

The spa is very cutesy. They have 2 rooms there: one with single bed and the other with couple beds. I was immediately offered green tea upon my arrival. What I LOVED was the menu. The little girl inside me did a cartwheel when I looked at the price list. You can get a decent full body massage as low as 1500 bucks. Now where do you find that? That said I was a little worried about the quality of service due to the price point. But all my worries vanished as soon as the spa started. I picked lemon body ritual (I think so?) along with a facial. The room was small but had some nice music playing. The body massage lasted for about 90 minutes which was then followed by the facial I picked. My masseuse didn’t try small talk which I like because frankly I go to spas to relax and just have some quiet personal time and not to socialize. After the facial I was then sent to the attached steam.shower room.

If you are looking for a luxurious spa then this might not float your boat but for the prices they charge, the services are amazing. Although do book in advance since the capacity is small. And I snapchatted the whole spa day..into snapchat lately! I hope you guys didn’t miss the stories I posted there.

Although I have heard that some of the Tattva spas are terrific when it comes to delivering both value and luxury. In particular I’m looking at their Resort Spas which have good reviews. Well you know..I might!

Its All About You

Deepika Padukone, probably the one and only among her peers to carry both the Indian and western look with élan, can look like both a diva and a girl next door. With an impeccable sense of style and aura coupled with flawless tinge of grace and charm, the way she carried herself throughout her little span of her journey in Bollywood compared to others sets her apart from the rest of the lot. Her sense of fashion and styling is a class apart and a paradigm shifter of this era. Finally the style queen of Bollywood launched her own fashion label which is called “All About You” in collaboration with Myntra.

So all you pretty ladies who dream of having her sense of style incorporated in your wardrobe, its time you rush to the myntra mobile app right now. The collection is available on the app from 20th October which was launched in a press conference at The Claridges Hotel, New Delhi. The diva herself was spotted wearing a floral printed full-sleeve top tugged in a bell-bottom denim. The look was completed with burgundy pointed shoes and traditional jhumka earrings. It was impeccable how she complimented a traditional jewelry with western outfit. When asked about the name All About You to Deepika, in the press conference she says, “All About You, just as the name suggests encourages girls to just be themselves. I am eagerly looking forward to unveiling the brand on October 20 and am delighted to partner with India’s foremost fashion destination, Myntra.

The press conference also witnessed the presence of Ananth Narayanan, CEO of Myntra who said “DeepikaPadukone is the epitome of style, fashion and elegance. Women across the country style their looks based on her fashion sense. We are delighted that Deepika is foraying into fashion designing with collections that will feature exclusively on Myntra. I am certain that ‘All About You’, will be an instant success across the country.” The perseverance of the finest minds in fashion culminated in 9 months of work on this clothing line in alliance with the Diva herself, Myntra’s own team and French design agency Carlin. The collection depicts the mix of “comfortable, romantic, feminine and fun” as Deepika Padukone stated. With a Bohemian touch, the fabrics are super comfortable, chic and mostly casual wear with a twist and also witness a lot of floral prints. The All About You range starts from Rs.1500 and is available exclusively on the Myntra app. The little Q&A session Deepika had with the press:

On Ranveer Singh’s sense of style and fashion:
I think he is also someone who has a distinct style, someone who is in a sense embodies what All About You’ is, I think we as a brand believe that it is really all about you and what you believe in, what you want to wear. The clothes you wear are an extension of your personality and I believe that this style expresses that. He is someone who is very expressive and who is very confident with a lot of energy and enthusiasm. I think all of that comes from the clothes he wears.

Talking about whose style she admires among her contemporaries:
I think how Shah Rukh Khan carry himself is really nice and Ranbir Kapoor has an interesting style too. Among the actresses, I feel Sonam Kapoor and Kalki Kochin has amazing style statement.

With winter around the corner I totally loved the feminine cape cardigans and bulky off shoulder sweaters. I’m also eyeing some of the jackets too. I’ve added some of my favourite picks from the Deepika All About You collection for you to get some inspiration. For my own outfit I went all casual in distressed leggings and a casual tank top. Threw on a floral cape and my favourite fringe bag at the moment to complete the look. Couldn’t get a chance to take proper photos so you gotta do with the phone pics for now. Thank you Myntra for hosting a wonderful evening.

A Cut Above the Rest

Sailor was in town recently and ofcourse I had to rush to a salon to get myself fixed, as always. This time I picked Neu Salonz after seeing a lot of buzz about them on facebook. They have a salon in Gurgaon but they recently opened in GK 1, M Block market in Delhi which is closer to my place so I booked myself an appointment and walked through the door at 11 in the morning. I always pick early hours because I hate to miss my gym in the evening. So I figured it would take 2-3 hours max and I would head back. But no! I added one service after another and walked out of the door after spending close to 5 hours! No surprises that I skipped my gym class and let myself get pampered by the professionals there. I immediately fell in love with the new age decor of the salon. The theme was black and white which I personally love at spas and salons. Everything looked chic and modern with mirrors at every step. It felt like a backstage green room!

My first concern was my dull skin so I straight away went for a consultation with the skin specialist there. I told my major concern is my sensitive skin so I cannot just pick any facial from the book, it has to be well thought out. So she recommended me an organic facial and promised it won’t irritate my sensitive skin. The products in the organic facial are from a brand called Comfort Zone. Which actually is quite true. The moment the facial started I was in a comfort zone ready to doze off any moment. The facial went quite well without any itching or irritation. My skin not just felt but actually looked visibly clear and bright. I’ve added a picture below of myself without any makeup after the facial. Have a look and tell me you don’t see it yourself. Oh btw I opted for the VIP room which is bigger than the normal rooms and had a classy white decor with mirrors everywhere. They do have ordinary rooms and I checked all of them myself and they are decent enough if you are not looking to spend so much. Apart from facials, they also have body massages which is quite new for a salon. I normally don’t get to see body treatments at hair salons.

After that I headed for my favourite session. The manicure pedicure time! I was snapchatting the whole thing but for the mani pedi session I just relaxed and let the guys do their job without me or my phone interfering. I opted for a nude nail art with a blingy touch. Sailor loves simple and classy stuff so it had to be it. They carry Faces and Colorbar nail paints too but I opted for the deluxe nail art which includes OPI.

After that I went for a hair spa because I was facing major hair fall issues, as always during autumn. I opted for a Kerastase hair ritual which the hair stylist said would help me with my hair fall. He was damn right! What surprised me the most was that their senior hair stylist who was handling me was an economics graduate! Can you believe it? After completing his studies he took up his passion, hair styling, and went on to learn from the hair experts. Normally when I sit for hair spas and hair cuts I brace myself for the “which products you use?” and “you should try this and that instead” but this guy instead told me whatever I was doing for my hair was working and added some tips to take it up a notch. Well then I knew I was talking to an expert. I was so pleased with the work that I went for a light trim as well. I don’t usually go for hair cuts from just anybody but this guy was trained from the french guys dammit! So Chetan is your guy if you are planning to pay Neu Salonz a visit. I asked him to give me some thick chunky curls after the blow dry which came out so beautifully.

I also loved the whole setting of the hair section. The arrangement was done in a Z pattern so you get full privacy along with a gazillion reflections of yourself from every angle. Totally loved spending time there and would recommend you try Neu Salonz the next time you are scouting some decent hair and beauty salons in Delhi.

If you follow me on my instagram (@vanitynoapologies) and snapchat (@vanitynoapology) then you know I recently went for a hair makeover. This post is all about the queries I got after that. I went for 2 services that day: liquid hair and hair colour. I will talk about Wella SP Liquid Hair in this post and in the next post I will talk all about my new hair colour with tons of pictures for you to drool over. The reason I went for the liquid hair treatment from Wella because as you know I suffer from hair fall issues in this season. A lot of experts tell me I’m blessed with beautiful hair but a girl has to worry or she isnt a girl! I’ve been heat styling and blow drying my hair for a lot of events and it definitely takes a toll on my hair. Add to it the autumn season when I suffer from hair fall and dandruff which scares me everytime I shampoo or brush my hair. So I booked an appointment at Affinity Salon, Pitampura which is like 15 mins from my place and walked through the door at around 11am the next weekend.

Wella System Professionals Liquid Hair is a Molecular Hair Refiller that reconstructs the hair fiber at a molecular level, reinforcing the hair for up to 5 washes. The next generation of Liquid Hair contains the renowned RPN (Repair, Protect, Nourish) formula and is infused with New Molecular Hair Restructurer technology with keratin building and essential amino acids blocks to instantly refill the hair cuticle and strengthen lastingly damaged hair. Liquid Hair was especially developed for sensitized and fragile hair with due to its ability to Reconstruct the hair fiber with selected amino acids which are the building blocks of hair’s keratin. It provides the hair with more resilience and vitality. It is also perfectly suitable for people With fine damaged hair due to its lightweight formulation.

The SP liquid hair is available to buy online but I went for the salon treatment to see how the experts use it. I decided I would experience the service once and then make up my mind about buying the full bottle later. They first did a hair spa using the Wella SP Repair Mask and my favourite wella luxe oil which I always use post shampoo. After the hair spa they sprayed a generous amount of wella liquid hair serum all over my hair and blow dried. I was told that the heat from blow dry helps the serum get absorbed by hair faster.

This treatment is especially developed for sensitive and fragile hair. The thermo-activation refills the hair from the inside out and provides high performance through expert application. The treatment is supposed to last 5 washes and its been only 2-3 washes so far (yep I can get lazy in winters!) and till now my hair fall is in control. Its still there but not as crazy as it used to be. I still get about 50-60 strands on my comb so I guess it would go down after a few more treatments. I suggest you go for the salon treatment for your first try and then buy the full bottle for subsequent uses. At home liquid hair treatment would definitely come out cheaper so that’s my 2 cents.

The new SP Liquid hair is a perfect product for people with fine or damaged hair due to its light weight technology. It is infused with a Molecular Hair Refilling Technology based on the essential amino acids that strategically penetrate into the hair to restructure the damaged fiber making your hair appear much smoother and stronger. I’m also posing a teaser of my new hair colour. So wait for the next post to know which hair colour range and brand I used and how it turned out!

Brunettes do it better

Honey I coloured my hair again! It amazes me to think there was a time I thought I would never colour my hair. Nope. Not a chance. And look at me now. Last year I tested the waters with an at home hair colouring kit. I liked the result but those things are difficult to show up and fade away pretty soon. So I went to a salon and asked for an ombre..given my obsession with ombre last year it surprised nobody. It took me 2 more hair jobs to fix the colour because first it was too subtle and the next time too bright. By June this year I was already bored of it. But I just didn’t know what to do with it. I couldn’t go out and pick any shade..its my hair..HAIR!

So I waited and waited for inspiration to strike. And then suddenly on a whim I decided to go au naturale. I finalized Wella Illumina Hair Colour to paint my hair as this range specializes in the natural and subtle look. There is something about the colour which gives you luminous shine and incredible hair. It has a total of 21 shades ranging from warm, neutral to cool. I read that somebody said Wella had to work hard to find a new word to describe the result of this Illumina range. It’s so luminous…there’s a real lightness to this which is just how hair should look. Copper is present at the cuticle and interferes with the standard colour development, leaving your hair rough at the surface. Wella Illumina’s microlight technology surrounds the copper so it does not interfere with the development and increases cuticle protection. Cuticles are clear and smooth resulting in outstanding light reflection. It elevates light to its highest spectrum, revealing previously unseen potential in hair. Going a step further than virtually animated movies, they have brought luminosity in colored hair to a complete new level of naturalness, perfection and beauty and you are able to differentiate from shine to the luminosity that comes from within the hair.

Soon I made an appointment with the Affinity salon as you read in the last post. It was Halloween and here I was..going all natural! The stylist gave my hair one look and asked “when did you wash them last?” See I am very private about these things. Mainly because I don’t like to shock people. It had been a week. A week! This time I didn’t bother to cover up and told him the truth and she said “perfect!”

Apparently hair colour shows up better when you have natural oils on your scalp. For once my laziness paid off. I then had a long discussion with the head stylist about which wella illumina hair colour shade for my indian skin should we go ahead with. My natural hair is around shade 4 so she suggested we go with something between 6-7 as I wanted to keep it subtle. She used 7/7 with a little 5/7 on me. I asked her if we could pick one of the cool toned shades. I blatantly said “you know cool toned lipsticks suit me a lot” Yep. Always a beauty blogger. She told me the cool shades are meant for lighter hair and wont really come out on my dark hair. So it was settled..a warm natural brown. I was going brunette again!

The process took about an hour and the final result is here for you to check out. I like the subtle hints of chocolate brown here and there as she mixed shade 6 and 7. In artificial light it looks dark brown but when sunlight hits they look magical. I love love my hair right now. I will be posting some outfit posts soon where you can see my hair after a month of colouring. They have lightened up a tad bit to look soft brown.

The Girl in the Brown Leather Jacket

You don’t see a lot of outfit posts on Petite Peeve in winters. Actually no outfit post. Well because its so freaking cold here in Delhi! Simply the thought of changing and getting into a short dress scares me more than umm….running into a tiger? So I found a way to brave winters. I traded my feminine side for the chic biker girl. Leather jackets, ripped pants, chunky boots and neutral makeup is now my official winter look. And call it the Kylie Jenner fad or what but I’ve fallen in love with the colour brown big time. From my clothes to hair..everything needs to be in a shade of brown. My previous posts must have told you I am now a brunette. I got rid of my golden ombre locks and went medium chocolate brown. In terms of makeup, all my eyeshadows, blushes, lipsticks, etc are in different hues of brown.

For this look I picked my favourite tan leather jacket and paired it with a black turtle neck and ripped leggings. And styled with my favourite pair of ankle boots and a brown fringe satchel bag. For my makeup, I kept everything warm and neutral.

Talking of makeup, I am loving some of the new brown lipsticks I got from L’Oreal Paris Color Riche range. You can say brown is #mycolorobsession. I mixed a few shades to get ‘that’ shade of brown for this particular look. I’ve already talked about my favourite shades in detail.

Oh btw I’m hiring full time writers and interns for VNA, do drop a mail if you or anybody you know might be interested.

Because Jewelry Always Fits

If a woman says she doesn’t like shiny things, she is lying. And I never lie! Which is why I am proudly showing you my new holiday jewellery haul. Shiny and sparkly are two words that always grab my attention. With so many weddings and parties to attend, I am always looking for good statement pieces. Which is when I landed up at the Voylla jewellery collection. I surfed their entire website in my comfy pajamas while sipping on some hot chocolate (hello winter!) and ended up getting 4 statement pieces from their new women’s collection. I made sure to get jewellery I can wear to not just Indian weddings but events and parties in general which as a fashion blogger I get invited to a lot.

Voylla.com is an online shopping website that has a wide selection of designer jewelry and accessories for women, men, and kids. They have options for all kinds of occasions: ethnic, bridal, casual and formal. For my married readers, they have traditional mangalsutras, toe rings, bangles, statement rings, gold plated and silver earrings, maang tikkas, brooches, etc. I was surprised to find a section on men’s jewelry. They have a wide variety of cufflinks and designer buttons. Plus they have great jewellery options for kids and new born babies. Well you can say #VoyllaAlwaysBeautiful.
I love that the jewellery is affordable and won’t break your bank. In terms of payment they offer COD, Credit Card, Debit Card, Net Banking and PayPal. I always shop from websites (call me boring!) but they do have an app on play store (here) if you like shopping from phone.

Pink

When we were born, the first clothing we had when we came out from our mother’s womb was a pink towel. That is how our father, our grandparents and our siblings received us, wrapped up in pink, a bundle of love and joy. When we left the hospital, safely cradled in our mother’s arms, we wore those lovely soft cotton pink onesies which she had bought 5 months before our birth. Pink was our label ever since we came on Earth. Pink the soft and soothing colour, always pleasing and comforting in everybody’s eyes.

As we began to grow up, we wanted everything to be pink. No denial there. Our room was supposed to be pink, our bed sheets, our clothes, our shoes, ribbons, hairclips and bands, room walls, our school bags, pink gift wrapping, pink presents and not to mention, a pink birthday cake.

Our childhood years basically passed by us swimming in pink and loving it! I think it was expected from us to grow out of our fascination for pink by the time we reached our teen years. Some of us did, but we are not easily letting go of our favourite colour anytime soon.

Few of our classmates, started calling us girly-girls and babies when we still carried pink pencils, pens, notebooks and bags in school. They did not understand pink’s value and how much comforting it was to us.

Today if we enter a clothing shop for kids or babies, you can see two distinct rows for boys and girls. Girl row is filled with pink frocks, tops, pink sweaters, shoes, floppy pink hats adored with flowers, butterflies. The clothing decorated with fairies and tiaras with lovely cute sayings such as, “Princess” or “Precious”. While the boys rows have all the dark blue clothing with every super hero on earth’s pictures stuck on it and not to mention all those manly sayings such as, “Mamma’s Hero” or “I’m too young and handsome to be your boyfriend”. Journey to a kid’s store, is an entertainment in its self.

Possibly the best childhood memories we have are of us dressing up in gorgeous pink gowns and frocks with a magic wand or a big tiara on our head for our birthdays. During every fancy dress competition held by the schools, most of the girls turned up dressed as princesses or fairies in their flowing frilly pink frocks and shiny intricately designed tiaras while blessing everyone with the star tipped wands.

When I open my wardrobe now, in my twenties, I still see a few pink items in there. The one main pink object which us girls cannot survive without is pink pumps. That is the power of awesomeness for us. Sure, red gives us a sense of sexiness and glamour when we strut down in them in LBDs but pink brings out the fun and the childishness we still have in our hearts. It brings out the fun and the desires we hold and we feel like little girls again.

The next important thing is a shiny pink purse. The right accessories have the power to boost confidence to another level. Just imagine carrying a pink clutch with studded stones to pair our LBDs. Black or other rich colours with the gold and silver studs give out a lot of sophistication and elegance, no doubt but carrying those monotonous colours everyday is like having weekdays even on weekends. Now carrying pink handbags with gold or silver designs on dates pared with a gorgeous dress gives a volume of charm to our appearance and thoughts.

Many regard pink as a weak colour but try wearing a sleeveless pink frock with tight body and flowing layers at the bottom. It makes you sexy without being too harsh which sometimes red has a tendency to do which is why people choose red for specific days but pink can be worn everyday and in every season.

Just look at the makeup we own, half of the lipsticks are guaranteed to be different shades of pink. Hot pink, baby pink, nude pink, subtle pink and whatever other shade of pink there is! Don’t we just love lightly layering our cheeks with subtle pink blushes to give out a natural shy and energetic hue to our face? Even some of our eye shadows are pink! Maybelline (Along with several other companies) came out with a whole pink eye shadow pallet, The Blushed nudes which contain the gorgeous light shimmery and ate shades of pink.

Waking up every day and the idea of straightening and setting our hair seems such a pain and we can’t help but want to go crawl back to sleep. For me, the idea of straightening my hair with a pink straightener brings out a girlish excitement and I can’t get enough of it.

It all about the accessories, the more glamorous the more you want to wear them and want to go out. Pink has been stuck with us for years and still is the favourite colour of celebrities and us mortals! We were born wrapped in pink, we should still embrace it.

I have a little something to show you girls. Is it makeup? Or is it shoes? You will know soon. #Lifeinpink

He Coloured her Valentine with only the Brightest HUE

Beast was all fidgety when he saw the preparations being laid down for one of the most anticipated days of the year, the Valentine’s Day. He had heard Belle talk and talk about how lovely and romantic that day is for couples and Beast’s curiosity sparked. He knew Belle loved books and had said that that was the best gift she had ever received, but he couldn’t help but wonder, if he arranged for a romantic night for Belle on 14th of February, would she become closer to him and begin to love him as he loved her?

That thought alone made the great beast tremble and sweat. What if she didn’t like the arrangements? Beast loomed over everything that was being placed on the great hall and on the dining room with closer inspections and to look for any flaws but so far, everything seemed to work and look perfect. It was already 7pm and Belle was due to arrive in his castle at 8pm for dinner. He had invited her and had even laid out a special red gown for her. He hoped it was to her liking. It was now time for him to dress for the occasion. Lumier and Clogsworth shoved him into his royal jacket and tweeds while others tried to manage his large mane. In quarter of an hour, the beast was ready and now stood at the bottom of the stairs, awaiting Belle.

When she came, Beast could swore he had stopped breathing as he looked at the beautiful girl with silky brunette hair wearing the lovely sparkly red gown. Belle was very surprised to receive the gown and she blushed prettily when she saw the beast practically gawking at her and she couldn’t help but giggle inwardly. He was such a sweetheart!
Beast took her to the dining room where they had part taken in a grand feast which was brilliant cooked and tasted absolutely delicious. The beast led Belle towards a pile of wrapped presents and she opened them one by one and was stunned by each of them. He sure was spoiling her! After dinner, the couple retreated to the huge balcony which was covered in a glass dome and looked up at the stars. They were content to be there in each other’s arms. The beast then asked Belle to dance with him to which she happily obliged. When they waltzed, Beast took out his smartphone from his jacket pocket and switched on an app while Belle looked on puzzled.

Immediately the room was filled with dimmed light. Pinks, purples, gold, so warm and so romantic. The room was showered with such pretty lights while the couple danced among them. Belle felt as if she was dancing and swimming amongst rainbows and it felt so serene and so very romantic. Beast’s affectionate and loving side knew no bounds and there was no where Belle would rather be than with him, waltzing under the romantic lights. Ready to set the mood this Valentine Day?
